Requirements

CPU, RAM and disk are not stated in the official docs we read.
The frappe_docker README lists three prerequisites: "Docker", "Docker Compose v2" and "git".

Docker or Docker Compose

The official guide is the frappe/frappe_docker repo, which describes itself as "the official container setup for Frappe applications".
Its README says it lets you "run ERPNext, CRM, Helpdesk, or other Frappe apps with Docker". The same docs are published at frappe.github.io/frappe_docker.

Hosting options

A Railway template for ERPNext is at railway.com/deploy/erpnext, created by pipech.
It was created on 11 Sep 2025 and showed "Total Projects 430" on 17 Oct 2026.
The template runs four services: pipech / erpnext-docker-debian, mariadb:10.6 and two copies of redis:6.2-alpine.
The docs give no RAM figure, so the template cannot be checked against the Railway Free limit of "0.5 GB RAM per service".

Affiliate disclosure: Forkshelf earns a commission if you sign up for Railway through the links marked "Paid link" on this page. This does not change the order or content of any guide here.

Backups and updates

Backups: the official guide is Create backups.
It sets up a backup service or stack, and its example job runs "bench --site all backup".
The site operations page adds a section on pushing backups to S3 storage and says "Note that you can restore backup only manually."
Updates: an image upgrade guide is not documented on the pages we read.
For a site, the site operations page gives a migrate step: "docker-compose exec backend bench --site <site-name> migrate".

Alternatives

ERPNext is listed on open-source alternatives to HubSpot and Salesforce.
