Requirements
CPU, RAM and disk are not stated in the official docs we read.
The README carries one storage warning for Docker: "File Systems like NFS (Network File System) are NOT supported. Please map to a local directory or volume."
Without Docker, you need "Node.js >= 20.4", "Git" and "pm2", on "Major Linux distros such as Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora and ArchLinux etc."
Docker or Docker Compose
The official guide is the "How to Install" section of the Uptime Kuma README.
For Docker Compose, it downloads the compose file with "curl -o compose.yaml https://raw.githubusercontent.com/louislam/uptime-kuma/master/compose.yaml" and then starts it with "docker compose up -d".
For plain Docker, the command is "docker run -d --restart=always -p 3001:3001 -v uptime-kuma:/app/data --name uptime-kuma louislam/uptime-kuma:2".
Hosting options
A Railway template for Uptime Kuma is at railway.com/deploy/uptime-kuma, created by Brody.
It was created on 24 Jun 2023, runs the image louislam/uptime-kuma:2, and showed "Total Projects 1463" on 17 Oct 2026.
The docs give no RAM figure, so the template cannot be checked against the Railway Free limit of "0.5 GB RAM per service".

Backups and updates
Backups: a backup method is not documented on the pages we read, which were the README, the wiki home page and the wiki update page.
Updates: the official guide is How to Update on the project wiki.
For Docker it says "Re-pull the latest docker image and create another container with the same volume." With Docker Compose, the steps are "docker compose pull" and then "docker compose up -d --force-recreate".
Alternatives
Uptime Kuma is listed on open-source alternatives to Datadog and Statuspage.
