Matomo runs on "A web server, shared hosting or dedicated server". If you have none, Matomo points to its own Matomo Cloud service. No separate hosting guide is published.
Backups and updates
Matomo's backup guide covers exporting the MySQL or MariaDB database to a file and restoring the dump.
Updates use either "The One-Click Matomo Update" or a manual three-step update: back up the configuration file, replace the Matomo files, then update the database.
