Self-hosted alternatives
Open source alternatives to Mailchimp
Mailchimp is a hosted email newsletter tool priced mainly by audience size.
Original introduction
Mailchimp prices mainly by audience size. At 500 contacts its Essentials plan is $13.00/mo and Standard is $20.00/mo. Hosting the tool yourself means contact count stops setting the price. This page lists three OSI-licensed projects, and all of them count toward the open source minimum. Their scope varies a good deal, so compare each one against how your team writes and sends email. Pricing as of 15 Oct 2026.
Published by Intuit. The projects below are sorted by GitHub stars. Star counts and last commit dates are read from the public GitHub API. The line under each name is generated from the category, the licence, and whether the project can be self-hosted. Fetched . 3 of 3 have an OSI-approved SPDX licence, a commit in the last 12 months, and a repository GitHub has not archived.
